Title: Using e-portfolios to achieve better learning outcomes in professional training: views from teacher trainees and supervisors
Authors: Yu, Wai Mui, Christina
Issue Date: 2015
Journal: International Journal of Vocational Education & Training
Abstract: This paper reports a preliminary study on the use of professional e-portfolios to enhance teacher trainees' learning outcomes in teaching practice. Nearly 90percent of the participants were able to follow the suggested guidelines to present their learning outcomes in an e-Portfolio. Some good practices were also identified. Academic staff from three different faculties gained an understanding of how technology applications can be used to support teacher trainees' learning of teaching practice through participation in this study. Recommendations on revising the learning activities in e-Portfolios, providing detailed guidelines on achieving an in-depth critical reflection, and enhancements of the Mahara e-Portfolio platform and technical training are proposed.
