Far East Flying Training School
The Far East Flying Training School (遠東航空學校) was founded by Vaughan Fowler in 1933. It was a private institution sited at Kai Tak Airport.[1] It commenced training pilots and engineers for civil aviation in 1934.[2] The school stopped operating during the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in early 1940s. It was reopened for flying training classes in 1946. In 1962, the training facilities and a number of aircrafts were destroyed because of Typhoon Wanda. Flying instruction then came to a halt. Eventually, the school was resurrected by the newly formed Aero Club of Hong Kong (香港航空會) in 1964. As the school was no longer involved in flying training, its name was changed to The Far East Flying and Technical School. The school was sold to the Hong Kong Aviation Club (香港飛行總會) in 1983.[3]
