Morrison Hill Technical Institute (MHTI) (摩理臣山工業學院) was officially opened on 12 October 1970 by the then Governor the late Sir David Trench. The institute offered technician education and technical teacher training. In 1974, technical teacher training courses were transferred away to the Hong Kong Technical Teachers’ College.[1]
Dr. Deric Daniel WATERS was appointed as founding Principal of Morrison Hill Technical Institute in July 1968, more than one year before it opened.
It was renamed the Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Morrison Hill) (香港專業教育學院(摩理臣山); IVE (Morrison Hill)) in 1999. It is one of the member institutions of the Vocational Training Council (VTC) providing vocational education to post-secondary students.
