Tung Wah College (TWC) is a self-financing tertiary education institution established by Tung Wah Group of Hospitals (TWGHs) which is the oldest and largest charitable organisation in Hong Kong providing a wide range of medical and health, education and community services to fulfil the needs of the society. The College went through the Institutional Review (IR) by the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ) in 2010 and is registered under the Post-Secondary College Ordinance (Cap. 320) as an approved self-financing degree granting institution. Taking advantage of TWGHs’ strengths and expertise in medical and health, education, and social services etc., TWC aspires to become a renowned privately-funded university, recognized for high quality programmes focusing on practical application for both for-profit and non-profit organisations, while nurturing youngsters to be caring citizens with a sense of social responsibility. Currently the College offers degree and sub-degree programmes in diverse disciplines (including Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Accounting, Business, Entrepreneurship, Health Service Management, Forensic Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiation Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing and Applied Gerontology etc.) through four Schools, namely School of Arts and Humanities, School of Business, School of Medical and Health Sciences, and School of Nursing. The College has a student population of over 2,500 and has nurtured over 1,400 graduates. In 2018/2019, TWC will have 4 degree programmes included in the HKSAR Government’s Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors (SSSDP) and put under JUPAS for application: ˙ Bachelor of Health Science (Hons) in Nursing ˙ Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Medical Laboratory Science ˙ Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Occupational Therapy ˙ Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Radiation Therapy Students taking these programmes are eligible for an annual subsidy of $70,000. Students admitted into other degree programmes are also eligible for the Government’s non-means-tested subsidy of $30,000 per year with effect from 2017/2018.
